Another knitting project is on the books! This blanket was made as a baby shower gift for a friend of ours. I used the Leafy Baby Blanket pattern from Silk & Wool.
If you need to know anything about me is that I hate checking pattern gauges. I kinda just jump in and hope for the best. As I was starting the pattern I noticed that since my yarn was lighter weight, I needed to add to the pattern. I did this by doing 7 repeats of the leaf pattern instead of 5.
Front and back views of the pattern. Ryan actually preferred the backside. Weirdo.
Unfortunately the blanket still ended up on the smaller side, so I had to add a border. A very interesting experience. I added four bands, one on each side. They were 12 stitches in width in garter stitch (knit all rows) and the length of the blanket. In addition, I knitted 16 rows in stockinette stitch (alternate knit and purl) at the end of each band to create corner squares.
Then with a threading needle, I sewed them together. It added the width needed to make it a good sized blanket.
This pattern is just adorable!
