Good morning and happy Wednesday! Making the best of this “warm” winter in Iowa. I went for a run outside yesterday, which was half obstacle course. With the temperatures hovering just around freezing, I never know if the melted snow on the sidewalks is just water or ice, so it’s quite interesting. I actually ended up running on the streets most of the time. I bet I’m quite the site when this happens. Run, skip, run, walk, hop, run. Yep, that’s me.
The project of today is yet another jewelry one. Remember when I said that I kinda go on craft binges? Well, this time it was jewelry. It’s a three in one necklace because I made two, one short and one long, that can be worn separately or together.
- beads in a variety of shapes and coordinating colors
- bead wire
- jump rings
- crimp beads
- jewelry pliers
For the long necklace, you’ll need a charm. Grab a big bead and place and eyepin and about five links of a chain on it.
Next, bead a variety of beads with endpins and place randomly in the links. Add another bead to the top and done.
Thread bead wire, enough to make a 24” necklace. Start adding beads to either side in a random pattern. Try to keep it symmetrical.
Once you reach desired length, 23” in this case, attach a clasp on one side and an inch of chain to the other side to make it adjustable. First necklace done.
For the short necklace, the length will be 18”. Keep this design a little simpler. For this one, I chose not to add extra links to the clasp. Eighteen inches is a pretty standard short necklace length.
Wear them together or individually. Either way, they look great and make a bold statement.
Have fun beading!
