Checking Things off the To Do List

Well, I gotta say this weekend was quite productive. Didn’t do anything too exciting, but I was able to get a lot of things checked off my to do list. Which, always feels amazing.

Friday after work I took Boone out to his vet checkup. Everything went pretty well and his recovery is going great. Once again, he melted the heart of the other pet owners in the waiting room because all he does is shake like a leaf and stare at the door. No reason for it since his therapy consists of laying on the floor while the technician passes the laser over his wound while simultaneously petting him and he gets fed treats by the vet. Not too bad if you ask me.

Then, I got to do some more crafts with my best fellow by my side.

Scrapbooking night

The night ended with a sleepover, which Boone loves.

Saturday, after my run (a super long 10 miler), my neighbor gave me some rhubarb from her garden to make pie. Rhubarb is pretty popular here in Iowa and I have really never cooked with it before. It was also pretty helpful so get her recipes and tips. Love my neighbors!

The rest of the day was spent working on my to do lost, random craft stuff and housework, and taking care of Boone. His walks about three times a day are pretty helpful for his leg and it gets him out of the house every so often.

For the rest of the day Saturday, I wore a shirt supporting Mia and the American Heart Association. Mia, the daughter of one our our college friends, was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and they were having a walk with the AHA to gather donations and support. Unfortunately we couldn’t make it, but were there in spirit.

Sunday, after grocery shopping, Ryan told me “We’re going fishing!”. And so we did. The cloudy morning cleared out so out we went. Although we didn’t catch a thing, it was a nice day and very relaxing to get out there for a bit.

Once back, I got to cooking. The rings on the pear in the kitchen mean only one thing, I’m probably baking, which I was. I got the pear from my mom when Ryan and I first moved to Eastern Iowa after college and have used it to keep my rings safe while I cook ever since. I love it!

After eating some pie and watching some TV, it was time for bed and another work week.

Hope your week goes great!
