BVI Trip in a Blink of an Eye

If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to for the past few days, well wonder no more. I was relaxing under the sun of the British Virgin Islands. To celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday, the whole family went on a charter yacht from Virgin Traders and had the trip of a lifetime. Our dad was the captain, while we were the crew. All in all, it was one of the best trips ever. There’s nothing like being on a boat for a week. Heavenly.

Flying out

I’ll go into more details in some future posts, but for now, here’s a quick recap. The trip started early Friday morning when Ryan and I headed off on our first flight to Chicago. The skies were clear so we got a great view of the Chicago skyline.

Flying this time was a breeze. I definitely have to give props to American/US Airways for making this trip happen without a hitch. No delays, no gate changes. Our flight were early enough that we got to see Old San Juan as we approached the island.

San Juan Arrival

Once we got home, it was time for dinner. Since my mom loves us so much, she made some traditional Puerto Rican lechón and arroz con gandules. It was amazing.

Get in my belly

Once the group gathered together, made some final arrangements and hung out for the night, it was time to fly out on Saturday to Tortola and start our journey.

The trip included some happy hours, great food,…

…and of course, amazing beaches.

I even tried a little sailing myself with the support of some very brave souls. But, before we knew it, the trip had to come to an end.

Back to Cedar Rapids we went on Sunday.

Favorite airport treat: iced coffee. So good.

Pick Me up

After arriving, Ryan and I headed straight out to meet up with his parents and pick up Boone. Now the family is complete again and it is al back to normal today.

So sad when it ends…
