Good morning! Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and you feel rested and ready for the short work week. I know I am! Ryan and I were non-stop this weekend, but I definitely feel that the three days off were enough to energize me. We pretty much stayed home all weekend long and got in the car only to get supplies for our projects. Boone definitely appreciated our three days at home too, but I’m sure he’s also enjoying his all day rest today.
Friday, I walked over to Walgreens to get a some last minute dinner items and then got to cooking.
Chicken fajitas were on the menu and they were amazing. I made the seasoning from scratch and they turned out amazing. I’ll be sure to share the recipe with you soon. Then we kinda just hung out watching football. Gotta love this time of year!
Saturday started pretty lazy. I was fully awake early, so I stayed in bed with my guys and read some Harry Potter. Off to a great start!
Then, Ryan and headed to Menards to get some supplies for our new bed. Turns out they had an amazing deal on dimensional oak (almost 40% off), so we definitely stocked up and were super excited that the bed cost just got cut by a ton. Yey sales!!!
We spent the rest of the day busy busy working on cutting wood and assembling. It really was the first day that I was able to go non-stop without needing a break and it felt great. We did take some breaks in between, but nothing too horrible. mainly eating while watching football. Boone also made sure to grab our attention whenever he could.
After dinner, I also made some pumpkin banana chocolate chip bread which was pretty good. Can’t share with Boone though! Then, some more football watching. Both Iowa and Iowa State won their games, so it was a good day all around.
First thing I did Sunday was clean out and reorganize Ryan’s work table and tool area. It was a mess! Then it was time for me to get working on the bed again. My workstation was outside using the Kreg jig. I was also multitasking throwing the ball for Boone.
It was pretty hot out today, so we refreshed with some water and ice.
We had Ryan’s cousin over for dinner and a much needed break. Wrapped some things up and then bed time. Monday, while Ryan started getting some work done on the bed, I cleaned out my craft area and got to work. Actually finished a few projects that I had halfway done. Checking things off the list always feels good. Then more of the same: work on the bed, second trip to Menards, eating, etc.
I must say, it was a great weekend. We got a lot accomplished, and thankfully I had the energy to do so.
Have an awesome week!
